How to tell socket type

I have run a couple of programs on this machine and I get conflicting information about the processor type. Can you recommend a program to determine processor type. This is 3.4 Pentium.

if you use one of those programs to determine your chipset/Mobo name you should be able to determine socket type as well via a quick google search of a reply in this thread

CPUz Tells you everything you never wanted to know. Bout everybody here uses it for some use or other.

if its a P4 3.4 its a 478 or LGA 775

Thanks for the input. I am trying to help someone and AIDA32 is reporting 478 pin in package type. But he ran something else that is reporting 775. Ill get him to run that program.

That's really odd. Try this:

Take the CPU out, or even just look at the mobo.

Dell MOBO and he is not comfortable removing the heatsink.

So I guess it is 775. Now i can try to pick a mobo.

Looks right. Ive never seen or heard of CPUZ being wrong. But maybe check the mainboard tab for the chipset to be safe. Any thing in the 9s is 775

Or look in the system properities under system devices to see what chipset is installed just to make sure.
