how to take off the user logon window in winxp?

its that part after the welcome screen, it asks me for username and password, but i always just put my name and hit enter... i never put a password... anyone know how to remove this?

I have my laptop setup just like that. XP should boot right to the desktop if 1) You are the only user and 2) You have no password set. If you have additional users or passwords XP requires a logon.

What I'd like to avoid is the Welcome Screen appearing after hibernation. I'm the only user with no password, but I still get the 'click your user name to begin' thing. Seems kind of silly that it will boot right to the desktop but not resume.

This is the easiest way.

1. Click Start, click Run, and type control userpasswords2.
2. Clear the Users must enter a username and password to use this computer check box.
3. Click Apply.
4. Enter the user name and password you wish to automatically log on with, and then click OK.
5. Click OK again and you're all done.
