How to switch back to old Nvidia control panel

I really really liked the old nvidia control panel, it also allowed me to save custom color profiles and easily accessed right in my taskbar icon so i can switch brightness levels on the fly.. i've googled this over and over and i see some mention of .reg hacks for it but I'm not willing to go to that extent just yet, some also mention going into the VIEW menu of the current nvidia control panel and choose classic mode, but that is not an available option for me anymore with my 169.21 forceware drivers.. does anyone know how to do it other than registry hacks?
