how to strip paint off a computer case?

i got paint stripper gel stuff and while it worked alright on areas where it got really really thick, other palces it just didnt do anything, and it got EVERYWHERE. took me 20 minutes to clean up. i tried sanding and on big swaths it worked fine, but when it came to smaller parts (like around my window) its hard to do as the paper snags on corners. so how am I supposed to strip the white paint off this case to expose the metal?
 
expensive but easy
bead blast

if you have a compressor, and can rig an area to use it (and recover the medium)
the guns themselves are so bad, and you can do alot more with them than just remove paint
 
get the real aircraft paint remover not the kind in an auto store im talkin bout the real stuff you can get at aviation parts stores some small local airports have them. I found it works well on the epoxy paint most cases use.
 
i used a belt sander to strip the paint off an emachines chassis i had lying around. took awhile and really screwed up the belt i used (stupid beige paint) but it worked ok. just be careful because the belt sander will eat the steel as well, so it can end up uneven. but other than that, i'd recommend the belt sander method.
 
yeah, i just sand...it takes a long time, but i dont think it's easy to mess up :) i some times use a metal ruler edge to peel off really thick, and long layers..but unless you do the whole side like that, then sand, then sand then sand then sand and then sand a little more, it's a bad idea to strip off little chunks..i highly reccomend using sand paper...use 80 grit to get thru, then 180, then 320, then 600...i generally stop at 600..at that point you got alot of metal showin :)
 
belt sanders are too expensive

i can get "aircraft remover" from autozone and everyone ive talked to says that removes EVERYTHING it touches, including skin. while that sounds fun ease of handling is a consideration

sandpaper i tried, as i said it sucks

dont have a compressor

i was using a brush on a drill, it worked decently well but it had only a tiny bit of surface area. id have to get a bigger one and ive already spent ~30 on this, which is way more than i wanted to

i didnt even think your post through but i realize that you are the one i trust most to know this stuff ;) ok, ill look into it, when you say brass wire brush, thats exactly what it sounds like correct, a brush with wires on it? i have one of those and i tried it for a minute on part of the side and it didnt really do a lot.

i think ill just get covered in the shit, get it all over my lawn, fend off the poisioning for a day (i gotta be immune to it after ingesting so much water wetter right?), and see how that goes.
