How to ship RAM

the origional case *or* wrapped in bubble wrap, put in the middle of a small box sorrounded by packing peanuts. thats how i do it
 
I just shipped a stick a couple days ago actually, wrapped in an anti-static bag, wrapped the ram itself in a few layers of bubble wrap, and layered the box with bubble wrap. Buyer got in perfect condition. :)

Those air-packages with a slot in the middle that mushkin sometimes uses

but in all seriousness, I either find an original package of somesort to put it in, then bubble wrap, or static-bag them and bubble wrap.
 
When I had to RMA some RAM, I just bought those "poster tubes" (a lack of a better word...) at Office Depot and I cut it to size. I wrapped the RAM itself with an anti-stattic bag.

never use a bubble envolope, unless your putting it in a box...I got a stick that was in one and it was broken....looked like it was run over from the tire tracks on it :( these things can fall on the floor and get run over stepped on very easy a box on the other hand is easy to see on the floor :)

Doh, i just RMA'ed some ram in a bubble wrap envelope! It was it in the original plastic package, and i also reinforced it with cardboard. Hopefully it'll get there .. :eek:

i did that, it was fine
 
I got a stick of ram once off of ebay, it came in a yellow evelope. When I opened it the stick had been wrapped in toilet paper. That's it. It had been TP'd and then stuck in an envelope. That was 2 years ago and it is still running hehee...

I shipped some RAM Wednesday. I put it in a plastic RAM case, wrapped it in bubble wrap, and put it in a box. The package arrived today, so hopefully I'll get my payment in the next few days.
 
I recently got some ram that was laid against a piece of cardboard and wrapped in saran wrap and put in an envelope. Somehow it still worked. DO NOT SHIP RAM LIKE THIS!!!

I did pretty much the same thing except after the bubble wrap I put in a box of those packing peanuts. Figured that ought to just about cover it. Funny part is it was a stick of laptop ram that ended up in a box that was about 10 inches x 8 inches x 8 inches :eek:

I bought a couple of sticks of ram from a no name online dealer.

I couldnt believe that they shipped it a frigging envelope just wrapped in a little static bag.

If more to my surprise it worked fine.

I really like the plastic memory cases when I have them they really seem to be the best route to go.

Just about any mom and pop computer shop should either give you some or sell you some cheap. That is where I get them when I need them.

I've bought ram at an electronic store like that, it was in one of those old school 7/8" double disc cases.
 
When I sell ram, I put it in anti static sleeves, tape it to a piece of cardboard, fold the cardboard in half over it, flatten a spare PCI slot cover and tape it to the cardboard to re-inforce it. You would be amazed at how strong that is. It would take a LOT to break the sticks Then I put it in a priority envelope, and mark it fragile.
I also insure it for what the buyer paid.
I havent had anything I have ever sent arrive damaged, but if it does, I wont be out the money, as I will just file the claim, get the money, and refund the seller :)
 
Go to a ma and pa comp shop and ask to buy a bag for like $1. They probally have billion of them :)
 
I had Mushkin send me some RMA'd sitcks in this really nifty air-bag, inflatable like a raft, with the memory in the middle of it. Very slick, obviously the put the memory in then inflate it, totally protected the whole trip. I'm gonna reuse it for sure :)
 
if i have the original package, should i just ship it in that, a nice box and some shipping popcorn? how much is that gonna run me.
