Hi lads,

I just received my AL2423wdr yesterday and am pretty happy with it. I am running it at 80 contrast and 12 brightness via DVI-D. After running the nvidia Desktop optimization wizard to the best of my abilities (I somehow stink at the color-based gamma adjustment) I am VERY happy with how nice CS:S looks, but when reading the forums or working in netbeans on my project, i feel that the bright colors are almost painful to look at. I was wondering if someone could explain/ link me to a good guide for setting up my display.

or should I just bite the spyder2express bullet? though I will likely have a dual-monitor setup soon with my old FP2001.

I'd like to know how to optimize my display as well. Adobe gamma doesn't seem to do much of anything at all for helping, and no matter how I adjust the brightness and contrast, I just can't get it where I want it. Either it's too dark, or even at a low setting it's like staring into a flourescent light bulb. There's that and the problem with text that is annoying to no end. Either the text is so small that I have to strain to read it at the native resolution (even with a higher dpi and fonts setup up at max) or it's rainbow colored. :(

This monitor also has really bad viewing angles, or at least to me it does. If you barely move your head the picture shimmers, like one of those old trading cards that have the ridge covered hard plastic coating. Everything has a "foil" look to it like a really bad projection televison viewed from the top down.
