How to run non-native resolution without stretching ?

I want to run Flatout 2 at non-native resolution. Using native 1440x900
the screen is stretched out and the cars look too flat.
The game stretches the image when running in widescreen.
I want to run a 4:3 aspect ratio resolution but have the screen "pinned"
in the middle of my monitor and not have it stretch out to fill the screen.
So there will be black bars on the sides and top/bottom.
How can I accomplish this ? Thanks.

There is no way that I know of.

You may have to change the resolution to match that of your game if you want to run native.

i seen the option in the ATI control center. but i dont have the control center any longer or i would tell you where it is, just look for it. basicaly it will just not strech the image, it will display the resolution pixle for pixle on your native res. like 1024x768 box in your 1440x900 monitor.

Well there is the option for centered control timings which won't stretch some resolutions but i'm not sure how to make that work for smaller resolutions. It usually is 1280x960 or a widescreen resolution like 1280x800 etc. You can try it and play around with the options a bit.

Look up the scaling options.

I thought this was an option on your monitor? Mine has it where it wont stretch if you dont have it at native, it will just have black bars from the area that isnt used. Look under your monitors menu in geometry or something of the sort.

There is that option on my dell i think it is the fill ratio. You can set it to fill the monitor or 1:1, set it to 1:1 and that will keep the box (non-stretched) image

My monitor must be a pos.
I don't see anything for that option. :(
I thought for sure there was a way to do it via drivers in the ccc or something.
Here is a pic of what I need:

But maybe that's only in the omega driver ?
The only reason I want to do this is for flatout 2.
When you select a widescreen resolution, instead of showing you more on the sides,
it takes the whole image and stretches it out.
So the cars look kind of flat.
