I'm about to sleeve my new ps...i sleeved the last one, but was always irritated with it because i couldn't find any info on how to remove the sata power connectors so i could sleeve those wires. anyone around know how?

SATA power connector?

depends...

some nicely just unclip (love those ones)

others have tabs on the underside which you can lift up and the wires and pins/tabs should just pull out. Failing that cut them off and get some of those nice 90 degree clip on ones.

Show me a SATA connector that unclips. I'm not saying I don't believe you, but I've never seen one.

The ones on my Antec Phantom 500 unclipped... they are a "quick-connect" style connector, internally, whith pins that slice through the insulation to connect. I wanted to have the clean look of inline power connectors for stacked HDDs, so I removed the back, slid it up and snapped it back together.

ACRyan also makes em: http://acryan.com/_connectx/ACR-CB8201.shtml

well, i got lucky. my ps just happened to have the clip on style, so after several stinking hours and several burns to my index finger, i'm all sleeved up mostly (just didn't have the umph left at 3am to start the atx power connector AND the 20-24pin adapter. The bastards even sleeved the cable...they just stopped about 3" from the plug, so i've got to redo the whole damn thing.

can you post a pic.? Because don't you just pull the power connector off the hard drive? I mean, that's how I do it. Under 1 second.

he means how to get the connector off the wires to sleave them. not just disconnecting the power onnector from the hard drive.

My Thermaltake uses those easy clip SATA connectors so yeah, that makes life a lot easier. Just cut em off and solder the wires back together with some small bits of heatshrink over the soldered bits of wire. Thats what I did to shorten/lengthen my cables.

.

instead of doing that, why not find a converter or adaptor from the SATA to whatever is needed.

how would that help him sleeve the wires of his SATA Power Connector?

that atx plug kinda makes me laugh though.... :D

yea, that's not the worst of it either. it's got one of those 20-24pin adapters too. i really wouldn't mind sleeving the main atx cable, but the adapter is going to be a bitch. there's a couple wires that go all the way from one side at the top, to the other at the bottom, so a nice sleeving job is going to be damn difficult. so unless i take the time to do the adapter nicely, there's no point in doing the main cable.
