on mylaptop i have a folder with a 1:1 copy of one of my dvds (used dvd decrypter) now how can i use Windows Media player 10 to open a dvd backup on the HDD?

with power dvd you just go open dvd file on HDD, is there a way WMP10 can do that? cuz i know WMP10 can play dvds off the DVD drive. im hoping i can just use WMP10 to play everything since ive been able to get it to play shoutcast streams and winamp plugins

I think (not quite so sure, it's been a while) you go to Open File... and point WMP to the vob file created by DVD Decrypter (usually the largest vob file is the actual movie). Hope that helps.

basically what I did was right clicked on each file and hit "open with: windows media player"

and then hit ok until I found the one that worked. Also when you are copying dvds you have to remember to view the movie from the cd first, I had a couple that wouldnt let me play the file at all because they were protected, but then I just started the movie, exited, and copied them again, and it was fine.

If it's an ISO file just double click on it. If it's in file format just open the first vob file in the video folder. That should be the menu, if not click the DVD icon after opening the vob file, which should take you to the top menu. You could also play the vob files individually.

i have all the codecs and WMP can play the VOB but i want it to open like power dvd where you see the menus and stuff, just like throwing the Disc into a standalone player, i need this because i usually modify the menus and i need to know if the mods worked, when i backup my dvds i usually remove any FBI warnings, remove Puops, remove useless garbage, and i disable the special features menu button in the main menu
