I just got a raid 1 setup going ... how would you recommend I partition it (I have my main hd running non raid -- 250gb hd). The two drives running raid 1 are 500gb each.

Also, please not that I have a macbook pro I work on for the most part... so if you have any suggestions as to what I should setup to have access to all the data (FTP? .. the Desktop with the raid is running Windows XP, the mac is running Leopard for the most part). I also have a small portable 120gb hd for the mb pro... so I need to figure out a way to sort of keep everything together and in order.

(should I make the partition primary or extended?)

Is there an advantage to breaking everything into their own partitions.. I thought that was done so if one partition goes bad.. then you still have a chance of recovering the other one.. but since I have a raid going..

I'd make one big primary partition.
Partitions rarly go bad, there's a greater chance of the whole disk going bad.
