I have read many FAQs about how to paint and I always mess it up. I have just recently undertaken an interest in modding some of the cases I have. I am spray painting this case I have yellow, just for fun.

Well I painted one side, and it looks like crap. The paint is doing weird things, it's not flat.. when I sand it and paint another layer it looks like crap. How do you get the paint to look flat? Like on a Car?

I'm using cheap storebought spray paint, steel wool meant for "roughing surface and cleaning between coats of paint".

Can anyone lead me to some sites that will teach me how to paint? It seems whenever I spray paint something it comes out like crap, and I want this case to be good.

generally spray coats will never look perfect until after they are sanded/polished

So what would you suggest? I have 1000 grit emery cloth to sand, what kind of polish are we talking here?

cheap paint will usually give cheap results. spend a few more dollars and get some quality spray paint.

Mirror Finish Paintjob

Those two guides should basically cover all you need. The first one is for the inside of the case and the second one is for the outside. Unless you want to have a mirror finish on both, then just pay attention to the second one.

Anyone with experience painting will tell you that the most important thing is prep work. The second guide explains really well how to sand the case properly.

wet sand and polish... a LOT ;)

and get some real paint... i learned that myself when i painted my keyboard with art paint... then it wasnt good so i laminated it so it doesnt melt under my sweaty gaming hands... and i can see brush marks... its fruity... so i chucked that project :D

my guess is you didnt read enough guides.... look at the ones recommended above, some of those are really good... read it, study it, learn it... then paint like a pro

i used this site which was posted already here and my computer turned out great!! :D just make sure you sand it down smooth, and id use an electric buffer, works much better than buffing by hand
