Well I have a little home network I just set up so I can get internet and shiz. Now I wanna share the printer so how to I go about and share it. Both computers have Windows XP on them. I wanna know how to put the printer on the network and how to set it up on the computer without the printer right now...

The easiest way to do it is just to share the printer just like you sahre files on your computer.

Make sure you have file and print sharing enabled right click on the printer and select sharing.

If your computers are in the same workgroup XP usually does a auto propgate and in a small home network will be avaible instantly.

Go to the other machine add a new printer and select network printer, you should be able to figure out the rest.

Only downside is that the computer the printer is directly connected to must be on for any computer to use it. There is other ways of doing this, but this is off the top of my head and is probablly the easiest

I believe in XP, the file and print sharing is enabled by default. That was an option in Win98, but it should be already enabled. During the process of sharing the printer, you specify a name for it as the share name. You can add it to your other machine by the following method: \\compname\printername or just type this in the run box:

\\computername

it should list any shares and shared printers. Double click the printer, and have the drivers handy. Like UP said, the "server" must be on for the printer to be accessible.

Of course, several companies make cheap printer servers.

Make sure your file and printing sharing is enabled. Network the two pc's. Goto your printers folder and share it. Goto your Secondary PC, goto a print dialog and click Find Printer. Once it finds the printer, double click it and it should install some drivers. Done.
