How to measure PSU's voltages?

I was always wondering, how can you measure PSU's voltages? I know i need a volt meter, but what wires do i use? What procedure do i have to follow? I am trying to compare my NeoPower to my friend's Ultra crap and the best way to do it is with some numbers.
