How to make icons permanant?

I want to embed a bunch of my folders with custom icons.

Something other than properties/customize which doesn't hold when you move the drive around.

How to do this?

A resource hacking tool would be able to do this, but you could also go the route of an icon package applicator like IconPackager from Stardock. I've had icons stick over multiple installations from such methods but keep in mind, YMMV.

you can make a screenshot of your desktop and then set it to be your new desktop.
The icons will then be permanent and probably confuse the hell out of anyone that clicks or tries to move them.
