Someone correct me if I'm wrong but windows backup can not make a disk image.
Vista and Windows 7 can. Not as flexible as an imaging tool. But, it can.
Any Windows before Vista cannot.
Looks like it also depends on which version of Vista you have. Win7 RC should have it though, thanks.

Thanks for the correction. Vista Basic and Premium do not have complete PC backup.
