How to Keep a Video Camera Steady

Is too funny. He is shooting a camera what looks like an Iphone or some sort. He thinks that the little contraction can actually stabilize his shot. :) Try a heavier camera..... BTW, this little contraction costs about $150.

At that price, why not use a tripod?

You wouldn't by any chance be endeavoring to use the word 'CONTRAPTION' would you? Before you go attempting to sound like a know-it-all you might want to consult your dictionary first...

But in all seriousness, Chris Pirillo is a major douche. I'd trust his opinion about as far as I could throw him. It looks like an overpriced CONTRAPTION for the impulse buyer in all of us.

Excuses me....:) You don't need to be a know it all type to understand that it is not hard holding a less than a pound Iphone camera...... Sorry man, I just take good pictures of birds and know how to shoot with a 500mm lens...:)

Hey, I can hold a video camera too.
I shot sports with one of these cameras must have weighed about 30lbs.

Yeah or lets see him use a camera with say a 300-800 Sigma mounted.

I was reminded of this thing after I saw this video as I've seen it before. I went to the store to try it out for my own uses which is mostly to get more stability somewhere inbetween a tripod and handholding. It does exactly that. I don't use it much in the way he uses it but mostly as a shoulder rest on top. It helps even with VR/IS and the largest lens I've used with it is 100-400.

You have to remember to use the right tools at the right time. Every little thing can help. This thing doesn't have enough mass to counterbalance weight anything heavy but can be used to make yourself a stand. I'd say it's a good buy. It's $90 which is relatively cheap compared to lenses, cameras, tripods, etc.

At least it should have been stable :p

Bigger cameras are usually easier to keep stable. We used to have a VHS camcorder that was much easier to keep steady than the small ones they have these days. ( but a PITA to walk around with  )
