hey guys i just bought a SATA hd from maxtor (oem) and obviously windows setup isnt able to detect it because its not a IDE drive, the question is how to make it so that windows setup can detect it.

do i need to do a raid config or what?

any help will be appreciated

thanks

You should have gotten a floppy that came with your RAID controller (or motherboard if it is a built in controller) that has the drivers for installing windows. When you start the install (NT/2K/XP) it flashes a message at the bottom of the screen to press F6 to load additional drivers. Make sure you press F6 there and once it finishes loading defaults it will let you load the drivers from the disk. If you don't have the floppy, you should be able to download the drivers from the manufacturer.

Unless you got the MSI K8T Master2-Far.
Silly people, they actually tell you to download the files and create the floppy instead of giving you one.
I really thought they were joking until I saw that windows needed a floppy, and a CD wouldn't work.
Since this was my main system, and I don't have a floppy for my laptop, I had to borrow a roomates computer to make it.
Hopefully you have a floppy though.
