How to increase my refresh rate during games

I have a NEC AccuSync 95f and when I pick a resolution to run the desktop at say 12/10 at 85 hertz it runs fine then when I play a game at 12/10 or any other resolution my refresh rate goes back down to 60. I don't have vsync on and most games don't have a refresh rate selector. So how do I get games to run at a higher refresh rate than 60?

P.S. I have 9800pro if it helps

I use program called "refreshlock" that locks every defined resolutions to a certain Hz. Dunno if it works on Ati..i have nvidia card.
