Did you get your Windows 7 beta ISO files via the links Steve posted yesterday? If you’re tired of waiting for the official site to come back up to get a key, Neowin has posted a way for you to get your key legitimately without waiting for Microsoft’s infrastructure team to fix their stuff. I’ve got my keys and my images, time to get installin’!

Apparently, using this method generates only handful of unique keys. Perhaps the beta keys have to activation restrictions, because people are getting duplicate keys. Mine activated just fine. Interesting.

Sorry, I meant: "Perhaps the beta keys have NO activation restrictions"

Sweet, got my key. I think this source may vanish soon when MS realise people are getting keys this way pre- release.

Im sure they know keys are leaking out...but doing it to keep us satisfied so they dont have 2.5 million angry anxious people on their hands.

you think mmo experienced would help prepare them for this... kinda makes them look like asses. same with not using torrents like other distributors, maybe because they have money to piss they don't care about quick/free distribution methods. meh

They have specific, and good, reasons for not using torrents.

got my keys...gonna throw the 32 bit version on my eeepc and the 64 bit version on my big laptop to play with :)

good thing work has a good connection to download the ISOs

I got a 32-bit key, and the download link on the same page appears so far to actually work. It loads the download manager and it is downloading the 32-bit beta.

Here's the funny thing...using IE8 on W7 64 bit, it won't let me access the [H]ardforums. I can reload the screen and the forums will appear for only a few seconds, then the screen goes blank. I had to install FF3 to see the forums.

Generated 50 of each key. Time to list on ebay! ~~~LQQK~~~

I want to call that the lamest thing I've seen so far this year on the HardForum, but I can't stop laughing... hehehehehe Priceless. :D

if you check the bottom of neowins page it gives your a link on how to "Calibate" your display

Click Start, type calibrate and it'll give you the options links in Windows 7.

Come on people, all this stuff is in the OS. :D

Got a key for each will try them out later.

64bit goes to a socket 939, opty 175, x1900xt system with 4gigs of ram and 32bit goes to a socket A, 3100+, x1950pro agp, system with 3gigs of ram. Both have DX9c capable vid cards and enough ram so it should go OK. Only really worried about the 3100+ cpu, (it is quite slow by todays standards), and NF2 chip set drivers.

I got my key and I installed 7 starting at 1:00 CST, was up and running at 1:20. Installed on an old Hard Drive I had laying around, didn't want to mess with dual booting or risking my current data.

Anyone know of a good trayless hot swap bay for SATA HDs?

Just downloaded a couple of x64 keys. I tried for over an hour with Internet Explorer. It did not work. Opened Google Chrome and it worked right off the bat. However, the download like did not work (but I already downloaded x64 Win7 almost 8 hours ago).

I did a quick online search for windows 7 beta key and the first part of the keys that I have and they were posted on a few sites. So it would appear that the same key was given out to multiple people. Which actually makes since. They do have a set limit of possible keys period, by the time you remove 2.5 million for the public beta and who knows how many for the past alphas and private beta you are giving yourself less and less possible release keys.

I know for the closed beta of Vista the key you were given could be used on up to 10 machines. Not sure how the public beta went. Maybe they were similar in that there were only like 10 keys that could be used unlimited times.

*snip*
read before you speak

Uhmmm... the point here, sonny, is that people don't need to get online or do Google searches ad nauseum to learn things about the damned OS. The point here, sonny, is that all you have to do is click Start and type what you're interested in knowing, learning, or adjusting in the OS.

Hence, my answer is, was, and will continue to be the shortest most deadly efficient manner to get more info about calibrating your display in Windows 7 with the tools the OS provides to calibrate your display natively.

You could learn something yourself...

Just tried both links and had no luck. I am TechNet so I have one I can use for work, but I wanted to play with it on my personal machine.

well listen here, sonny, the point i was making sonny. is the typo you clear missed twice sonny.

so once again i will reiterate myself. read "before" (keyword here) you decide to speak. cheers

oh and back on topic. got both my keys and runnin x86 on an old comcrap v5015us laptop.
runs suprisingly well for only 1.5gb shared ram.
