Other than shutting down extra programs, and setting the driver tab for high performance, are there any other secrets to getting a really good score? Right now, with my card Vmodded to 560/600, I get 13,475 3dmarks. I want to break 14K. How do I do it?

Did you try moving the FSB up some? By doing that, that will probably get you the required points to break 14k (that's if your 3.2C will like the overclock).

Sorry, forgot to update my sig.

P4 2.4C@3.42
Abit IC7 MAX3

I can't move my FSB up any more. 285 is all I can get on air without sending my core to 1.725.

That 3.2 just didn't want to give me more than 3.5ghz. So it had to go byebye.

wtf im getting lower scores at higher clocks.....although i do have craptastic ram.....seems somthing is wrong..... is that a stock cooled x800xtpe?

Running win2k should increase your score that extra few hundred points you're looking for.

Good luck.

Hey Elvis, I retired the M-2600 and went 939. You were right cpu does make a HUGE difference. Check these out:

3DMark 01 - 14758

3DMark 01 - 30694

nice runs...i got a silencer for the pro and got a mild boost in scores.....

loan me the XT for some testing..nice clocks..

Score calculation: (G1_FPS * 7.3) + (G2_FPS * 37) + (G3_FPS * 47.1) + (G4_FPS * 38.7)

G1 is based mostly around CPU (A64/FX, for instance, will score much higher here), G2/3/4 are based around GPU (clocks). Scores can vary based on driver choice, LOD settings, and subsystem choices (RAM/CPU options). HDD is irrelevant as everything is pre-cached. You get better scores with less items resident in memory because they will increase RAM latency slightly, although the test really only takes 512 MB into contention. Some BIOS settings (aperture, FW, disabling unused ports and such, IRQ choice, blahblah) make tiny differences. Check Futuremark's forums for specific advice.

I have an AMD system 2.1 Ghz, 512MB RAM, ATI 9700 PRO system. Should be fast, right? I get only 4800 or so on 3dMark03. I top out at 90FPS on quake 3 and I can barely run Doom2.

I have updated my BIOS and my VIA chipset for my motherboard. I have no idea what else I can do to speed things up. I get the impression there's something wrong - some setting or something somewhere keeping my card from performing well. Any advice on things to check would be greatly appreciated.

fresh install windows, directx, drivers, 3dmark03 n nothing else, disable network, sound, watever u dont need, etc. defrag hard drive, no desktop wallpaper, no desktop icons, no program running background, 16bit desktop color, etc. :) pick a cold day, open all windows n doors, open case, external fan blowing (more the better). use riva tuner n set everything to high performance.

i think 4800 is low for ur rig, compare the scores on orb.. i get 5600 with 2.2g n 9700(360/285).

My benches are all "real world" tests. I leave everything on. Even norton is running when I test. What is the point of disabling everything? Dont you want to know your true day to day limits? That is why I get a good laugh out of those 3DMark "Teams" that are locked in a freezer with a bare board on a table pouring Liquid Nitrogen on their components to run 3DMark. What is the point! One thing that might help is to set the priority to high for 3DMark. Also what Vcore are you at? Might need a little more.

Where do you set the "priority"?
