In bios when I do 16 x 215 my Mem freq drops to 379 from 400, will this cause problems or will I have better performance at 16 x 214 = 428 mem freq?

thanks

Ive ran 3d mark 2003 full version (came free with mobo) and it seems stable, I gain 100 points extra  with the slight oc.... Is it worth it? Max I gained was 10 fps on wings of fury......

If you are seeing benefits in 3dmark and such, I would go with that setting. Maybe your motherboard is forcing a divider since either
A) The memory cant handle it
or
B) The memory controller in the northbridge can't.

SO what would you do? I want to hit 3.5 is my goal but I want the cpu to last 1 year more to 2 maybe.

keep an eye on your BIOS version.

I ran a version of the gigabyte BIOS from last year that killed my 8KNXP.
They shortly updated the BIOS to not kill the board, but the damage was done. I don't remember the rev. letter.

 So I don't get it OCing killed the board or a bad version.....

I have the GA-8i875 Ultra that is exactly the same thing as your 8KNXP without the DPS2 thing. I'm sure you have the same settings as me in the BIOS. When you use CTRL-F1 to see advanced options, you can go in Frequency and voltage control and there is an option for the memory multiplier. You can set it to Auto/2.0/1.66/etc. In default mode, it is set to Auto. Just set it to 2.0.

I hope it can help! :D

I never OCed that board. It was the bad bios ver. ...if you read the BIOS changelog and remarks, there's actually a note about them fixing a previous bios that was 'killing' the bios chip or something like that.

man was I pissed.
