I have an ASUS A7N8X-Deluxe motherboard and just updated the bios from 1004 to the newest 1007 and now my pc is super slow.

I did some digging and found that when I boot up the pc it's showing my AMD 2800+ Barton CPU as a 1250 mhz cpu. I've checked the settings in the bios and have the cpu External freq. set to the 200 mhz. I'm running DDR 3200 (400mhz).

Anyone else having any problems with the new bios update? The 1007?

Thanks!

I doubt it's windows problem then. I think you need to make your bios see the proc correctly, and then windows will work just fine.

For a Barton 2800, you don't want the FSB at 100, you want it at 166. (Or look for 333 FSB, if it's giving you the doubled numbers.) It doesn't sound like you have a problem in Windows.

Yep, I set the FSB back to 166 mhz and now it's showing the 2800+ cpu, but Windows is still just crawling...excessively slow. So, I stepped back to the 1006 update...same problem. I finally went all the way back to the one I was using, the 1004 and now it's working fine.

Very strange...don't have a clue what the deal is with that.
