How to force a higher resolution?

I need to use a higher resolution than what is on the list for the monitor. I know for a fact the monitor can go higher but the rez I want to use is not in the list.

How can I go about forcing a higher rez?

I was under the impression you could not go higher than the native res on an LCD. You can go lower, but not higher.

Ya on LCD you can't go higher than native res. Unfortunately.

Correct. However it's not even allowing me to put it at it's native res.
