How to enable AMD ZeroCore?

I bought another 7970 to go in Crossfire, they're up and running fine. But I'm wondering how this ZeroCore technology works? From what I understand it switches off the second GPU in CF completely to save power and lower temps. However the fans on both cards are still spinning when I'm on the desktop so is there an option somewhere to switch it on or is it enabled after a long time idle?

I did some reading about ZeroCore and one of the main reasons it was developed is to lower the idle power consumption of multiple cards in CrossFire. So yes, you should be able to power down the second GPU.

There is a certain setting that AMD has called ultra low power state or ULPS. I predict that you might have to turn that on for ZeroCore to work.

I found a short tutorial on how to enable ULPS. Please try it out and check the status of ULPS mode. If it is off, turn it on. See if that helps.

Well that's not too useful if it only works when the display powers off... I'm always either using the computer or leaving it on standby/off.

Hmm still can't find a solution. I'm pretty sure one of the GPUs is meant to switch off when on the desktop, tried running on a single monitor and that doesn't work either...
