Pull the network cable, disable the LAN connection, disable the ethernet adapter? Any one of the following can do it.

she needs to surf the web but not be able to connect to my computer or vise versa .. we're on the same switch

As long as you don't have any drives mapped, then she's not "connected" to your computer. If you're sharing a network connection, then your sharing a network as well.

oh ... ok

we ran the network wizard and are able to share and see files / directories

i don't want her to be able to see my box anymore or mine hers within my network connections ..'

not possible?

That's not going to make any difference in terms of sharing viruses at all, because your still on the same switch and same network. However, if you must placate her, put each machine in a different workgroup. Leave hers to the default workgroup, and make yours something like workgroup2 or so.

ok i'm going to change the workgroup name an her computer ...

just got to figure out how to do that ...

thanks guys

as you can tell i'm a COMPLETE noob..
