How to convert ANI -> MP4 and keep the quality?

Hi,

I'm searching for the holy grail these days, how to play my Divx flicks on my PS3.

Im using PS Video 9 mostly to convert the vids, but I always loose quite a bit of quality.

What general encoding settings do i need to use to convert AVI -> MP4 (or AVC or MPG1) and retain the quality of the original AVI. Bitrates, codecs, etc.

Or is it just a dream?
