Hey Guys, I'm trying to install Win7 on a HD that has Vista from my previous system.

It's running a Gigabyte MA785GM-US2H

80GB (/w Vista) via SATA
500GB (storage) via IDE
DVD-RW via IDE

I'm trying to format the main HD to install Win7 but, It won't let me boot from CD, it goes straight to Windows Vista. Has anybody encountered this before? I've searched and couldn't find anything related.

Is it the fact that I'm running SATA and IDE together?

Thanks in advance!

Just disable the hard drive in the boot priority menu, then disable boot from other devices.
After first reboot during win 7 install change both back.

Here's my 2 cents..............

First, disconnect the 500 GB HDD physically from the MB, just to avoid confusion, reconnect it after you've loaded the new OS.

Then, make sure your 80 GB HDD is in the "Boot Priority"

Make the first boot the CD-ROM.(I'm assuming you optical drive can read a DVD.....hey, some CD-ROMs are old and cant do that)

put the W7 disc in the CD drive and restart the computer.

when it loads up, go to custom, then clean install and reformat the HDD first then install W7.:D
