Hi,

I have a socket 478 P4 and a Swiftech MCX4000. I was wondering how tight you secure the heatsink to the processor? Once you feel them come together do you just slightly tighten it a little more? Or do you really tighten it as much as you can?

One more question is I have:
"Arctic Silver ASTA-7G (2-PC-SET) Premium Silver Thermal Adhesive" coming in from newegg to secure vga memory heatsinks to vga mem. I've read that you have to be careful when using AS on memory because it conducts electricity. In what way do you have to be careful? Such that none drips off the memory and onto the board??

Thanks!
George

if you want to be really safe, then go for the Arcitc Alumina Adhesive

This one is non conductive so no worries. ramsinks are so lite any adhesive will do. But if your ramsinks come with thermal tape, just use the tape.

Just snug is good. Crank too tight, you can actually force the thermal compound out of the joint, and decrease thermal transfer.

well the problem was i ripped off the thermal tape thinking i would just use AS, then i realized AS ceramique wasn't adhesive... so then i ordered what i posted above

so what exactly do i need to be careful of?
