I was browsing Nofan's site seeking information on their new CR-80EH cooler when I came across this graph:

It made me realise that yes, I used to clean the case and CPU fans 3-4 times a year and I haven't had to do so once since I switched to a fanless system.

So, how often do you clean your fans?

Its usually the heatsink that needs cleaning not the fan. Also this is your 2nd thread advertising this product.

Maybe once a year, at most twice a year. It really depends on animals in the house, smoking next to the pc, what types of floors you have, and if you have a decent air filter in your house.

I bought a used gpu from a guy for cheap cause one of the fans went dead. Needless to say I took it apart and omfg! Caked, damp, dust smelling of smoke! Was nasty!

I clean my system out about every two months. After that my thermalright 120 extreme gets loaded with dust. The case fans are usually still pretty clean after a couple months.

I end out cleaning all of the fans in my rig every 2 months or so because that is the frequency at which new bits find their way into my system and I notice the dust.
PSU fan dust filter is 2 weeks or less though.
+1 on the smoke enfused dust. I have picked up several laptops and rigs that have been crapping out due to that tar conglomerate of dust. It is fairly terrifying to behold at times

I built my rig three years ago, just about, (January will be third anniversary). I have not had to clean inside of the case to this point yet. There is not dust inside of the case at all still and I live in a pretty dusty environment. The Raven case has kept the internals dust free this long and it is amazing.

I clean my case out once a week when I can. I have three cats so dust and fur is more of an issue for me.

Yea cats are the worst.. I blow my case out two to three times a month with an air compressor.

Every two to 3 months.. I have white fans and if you can take off the panels or look hard enough in the windows you can start to notice and it looks nasty.

Ultra low RPM fans don't gather dust much, but I like to open up the old case and brush out the fans every 3-6 months.
