How much would a decent setup run me?

I want an intel setup with overclock in mind. Best bang for the buck.

Assuming I can get rid of my 3ghz opteron, dfi expert board and 2gb of ddr500 for around $290-$300 +/- $20.

How would you guy configure a setup, ofcourse I have like $150 to add on top of the sold items. :)

Overclocking is the main point in getting tthe most bang for my buck. thanks

I spent about $700 on the following:

E6400 - $222
AC Freezer 7 Pro $29
ASUS P5B Deluxe $180
2GB G.Skill DDR2-800 "HZ" (Micron D9GMH) memory $250

That doesn't include the SATA burners I bought, nor the Raptor, nor the X1950XT my girlfriend gave me for Christmas.

Humming along happily at 3.4GHz well below 60C full load

For a good cheap setup:

Mobo: P965: Gigabyte DS3 or similar, maybe MSI/Asus 650i
CPU: e4300, E6300, or E6400

Some good Ram, either 667 or 800. Buffalo is VERY good and super cheap atm with rebate. EMC220BUFFLO for the 800 2gb kit @ newegg.

Not sure if you have a graphics card or not but there are a few good deals in the hot deals section.

$300 for the mobo, cpu & 2gb memory?
nice deal.

i am on the same boat as you. (165, 1gb corsair xms, a8n32 slideluxe- but am not selling less than $400)
anyways, i am gonna wait when the new 6400/6300 with 4mb cache come out. that will push the current 6400/6300 prices down.

i already picked my parts, so if i want to upgrade now this is what i'll get:
680i chip- $250 max
firestix 2gb dual- $199
c2d 6300- $183.00
-------------------------------------
$650 including shipping

lol yeah :) I got offers via pm already and I have not decided to sell yet :)

while reading up I saw some good things said about the setup I am ending up with: ds3 (122$) and e6300 (185$).

If you take a look at the first sticky here you will see what you can do with it.
