How Much to OC a P4 2.8C?

I just built a new P4 2.8C system and would like to OC. Can anyone tell me how much gain to expect. My system is capable of lots of cooling and I plan to experiment, but I'd like to have an estimate of the upper limits so I don't go too far.

My Asus P4S800D-E Deluxe MOBO has some auto-OC settings, like 5%, 10%, etc. and it offers CPU VCore voltage offset of +0.1V increments. I know this MOBO is not the best for OC, but it should offer some tweaking. Anyone played with it?

By the way, the system seems fast to me right now. I've recorded boot times (stopwatch) of 40 seconds with just Windows XP installed (with and without RAID 1). Anyone else have boot times to share?

I say that you should not go any higher than a 250FSB. If you can hit 250, you will have a nice OCed CPU of a 3.5GHZ P4 with a 1000FSB, nice!

O, and my boot time is 32 seconds. That takes me to the desktop.

P4 2.4C @ 3.0GHZ (250FSB)

Check my rig below - went to 250 before switching to H2O.

Decent board but not known as a great overclocker above 250MHz FSB. make sure you have the latest BIOS.

Here's what I got. 1.6 Volts gives me 250fsb on the second sig in my rig. 5:4 divider. Haven't tried pushing it any higher, i'm actually going to pull it back down now to something synchronous (highest i could get 1:1 with stock volts was 220 fsb).

I actually wanted 230fsb synchronous, but my ram wouldn't do that at 2-3-3-6 timings, perhaps more volts, but i don't know if i want to go too high, it wouldn't do it at 2.6 (stock) or 2.65 and I'm really not interested in toasted silicon right now. :)

Asus' AI auto overclocking is pretty crappy. At 10% it would barely boot, but at 230FSB all manual it booted fine and was stable.

Bah...

That's a pretty good OC for a D1 stepping chip.

Why's that, they supposed to suck? :)

edit: those temps were under load during a sisoft burnin, idle was between 38 and 40 that day I think.

would my chances be better hitting 3.9GHz with a 2.4c 2.8 or 3.0?and with what cooling and ram

3.9 would be easier with a 3.0C
from what i've read and my own experience more people with 3.9ghz cpus have 3.0C not 2.8C
