$2000. That way if he really wants it, he can have it, but if not all your hard work won't go to waste.

Price out your new system first, and whatever the total is will be your answer :D

id say around 1300, the system in my sig cost me a little over 1500 to build.

I would do that, but only spec out what it would be with your current configuration minus some amount since it's been used.

I would not suggest raping your friend for the cost of a new system.. it's not right.

2000 seems reasonable if you are also going to inherit tech support resposibilities with this transaction. If you aren't, 1600-1700.

P4C 2.8 @ 3.2 $150
Abit IC7 Mobo $90
1GB DDR 400 $156
Dual 36GB Raptors in Raid 0 $200
SB Audigy 2 $70
Radeon 9700 Pro $200
Gigbit NIC $45?

48x Liteon Burner $40
Chieftec Full tower Antec Clone case $60
550watt Tru Power PSU $80

~$1131

Charge him $1400, do him a favor and buy him a legal copy of XP Home, keep your raptors, buy 2 new ones, and give him a fresh install. Voila.

If he is a good friend, give it to him at cost. Otherwise, give it a 10% markup for your effort in building it.

and definately buy him a legit copy of XP

well hes a good friend, but I want to make as much money as I can get away with :)

Keep it legal, otherwise you will get to hang out at Bogue Field for awhile. bleh.

If he's expecting you to maintain it, i'd say $1400.

otherwise 1200-1300, it's not worth $2000, he could build it himself for the above mentioned $1131.

I agree in not charging outrageous prices on something that is already used.

I would also say to sell it to him for about $1,300 tops. I'm sure on Ebay you could find some idiot to purchase it for at least $2,000 though. I mean, people sell Windows folders on Ebay, for goodness sakes.

Tell him two different prices. Price number 1. 1200-1300. He gets system that is working as intended. You are done. He does not get to call you for any questions on the system. So sorry that is the deal.

Price number 2. 1700. He can calland ask as many stupid ass questions as he wants for a perioud not greater than 2 months. After that he is on his own.

Lifetime.. 1500 AND 100 dollars a month for any month he has a question.
