my pc:

amd PII x3 740 unlocked core @ overclocked to 3.5
4 GB DDR3 ram
gtx 470
gts 450
4 hard drives
1 blu-ray

if i dont unlocked but oced to 3.5 ghz. how much power does it takes?

You looking for a power supply or want to know how much power you system eats?

Probably looking for a power supply. I would say go with 900W jsut to be on safe side.

150W for Proccesor on load. GTX 470 will use about 350 on load. GTS 450 should use about 225 on load. That puts the total for that to be 675 Watts. You'll need a little bit of power for everything else. 900W should keep you on the safe side. I don't know what your hard drives are so can't comment on that.

Whoa. Slow down a second.

I have a Phenom X3 @ 1.45v 3.6ghz, and a 470 and it never used more than 380w at the wall (as measured with a KillAWatt). That means with my PSU's efficiency around that load being 85% that it was only using ~322 watts. That was with P95 and Furmark. I don't know how much power that the 450 uses, but my guess is that it is way, way less. Remember that the PCIe slot can draw 75w, and each 6 pin PEG can draw 75w. The 450 uses about as much power as the 5770. I'd say its closer to 120w. at max. I'd say the load max of your system would be around 400w, since the 450 is a physx card. When playing a game, I'd say your looking at more like 340 watts.

The figures of 350w and 225w are TOTAL SYSTEM POWER, not just for the cards. My guess is these are figures gathered from Toms and Anandtech's total system powerdraw figures. The toms system is a 980x 1366 system. Get a Kill a watt. They're only $15, and their wattage figures are accurate. Just subtract the inefficiency of you PSU. The most PSU you would need is a good 600w, and that's with a 200w buffer. Unless you were trying to draw as much power as possible, I say you'd never draw more than 420w at the PSU or 506w at the wall given an 80% efficiency. Playing games you'd likely never break 420w, and at idle you'd probably use 130w.

Get a 600-650watt powersupply, if your short on cash, you could get away with a quality 550w.

Anything quality 550w+ should be fine. The 450 uses very little power, the 470 and cpu are the only power hogs.

Uhm no.

A decent 550 will be fine, 650 if you want some leg room to grow.
