I was just wondering that how much temp is too hot for the cpu because my cpu used to only go upto 31 degree celcuis.. but now its going up to 45 48 celcius.. is that too hot?

I have 4 fans in the comp do i need more?

Is it an AMD or an intel?
I know the max temp for most AMDs are 80C and then they shutdown or melt :/ ....but It really depends on your processor.

More info plz

its a Intel Pentium 4 2.4Ghz 800fsb
after market heatsink and fan for cpu Band : Cooler Master Silent Extreme

Your system will tell you when it's to hot. There is no right and wrong answer.

When it becomes unstable that's when you know it's to hot.

* I'm leaving out excessive temps like 70/80c here, 60c is the temp i'd consider 'max and safe'

blow all the dirt/smoke/pet hair out of there :D

Get it out of the heatsink. I went like 6 months without touching my system and noticed it was running about 10 degrees C hotter than normal. I blew the HSF out with a can of air and put a new application of AS5 on that bastage and it was running like a friggin champ.

Ouch.. I don't know if I'd want my processor to run at 80 Celcius. My P4 is running in the low 30s as a 2.53 @ 2.85. I'm very pleased with the overall stability and such.

Your temps are fine for the processor, but I'd be careful with anything over 55 C. I'm sure they will run up to 60 and beyond, but 55 is probably a safe place to stay unless you're ballsier than I. :D

i am trying to lower the 40 to 30.. just installed 3 more fans.. i guess i f i keep installing fans like this i am gonna need a new and bigger case.. got a Aspire X-Dreamer II right now
