Im thinking about getting a new processor, I have my eye on the Barton 3000+ I have a Asus A7V8X and it supports the 333mhz Bus, so the highest processor that this board supports is the 3000+. So im wondering, is it a good Overclocker? or will I be stocking.

Cool, thanks for the input. I hope to get it to about 2.5Ghz and then i'll see what happens from there. Ill be using a silentboost heatsink with a vantec tornado 80mm bolted to the top of it. My 2200+ should be like 1800mhz and I have it at 2Ghz stable. It's idoling temp is about 25C and I never see it above 35C

Thx for the input ill see what happens.

Don't you want to save 80 bucks and get the 2500+?

A 2500+ overclocked to 3200+ (2.2ghz) won't be a whole lot worse than the 3000+ overclocked to a 3200+ (2.4-2.5ghz). And with the vantec tornado, overheating isn't a problem. That's just my suggestion. :)

Good luck!

If you haven't bought the processor yet, Bobsaget makes a very good point. The lower rated Bartons have better overclocking headroom, and heck, you could even get a Barton mobile 2400+, a real OCing champ if that's your purpose of getting the proc.

Check out the results for processors in the CPU database at www.overclockers.com

Well its going on my birthday list, my family wanted to know what I wanted seeing as I havent asked for much in past years so I said i wouldent mind a new processor, so i thought I want it to be stable and have a little OC room for some extra juice.

So do you think I could get thet 200-500Mhz OC range out of it?

plz do not get the 3000+, save urself some serious $$ and get the 2400+Mobile?
if u havnt already known, the 2400+mobile is also a barton, you can get around 2.5 gHz on air and 2.9 on prommie
IMHO its a great deal

My 2400+ Non-M is running at 2.27Ghz so about a stock 3200+. Save your money, and get the 2500+ M, it seems to be a good overclocker (but what would I know, I am a newb at this as of yesterday :) )

Cheers,

Well i want more stability than anything, i have my 2200+ running at 2.2 now so that would be a down grade.
