How much do individual displays differ?

Quick question for you all.
I was curious just how much individual displays of the same model differ from what another in their image and coloration. Why I ask is at work I've been calibrating displays we ship out using a Spyder tool, but I was curious if the same profile could be copied to all for consistent results. We use both ccfl and white led monitors so if one varies more than the other, I'd be interested to know.

Too many models of too many vendors, each with different policies of internal quality check and factory calibration.
There can also be sample picking for reviewers and not enough monitors on hand of one reviewer to gather enough statistical data for somewhat objective enough conclusions. So simply not worth to waste time trying find out something you cannot get prerequisite nfo about. It all will be more of a subjective guesswork.
 
So would you say just stick to the current plan of calibrating each individually (about 5 min process each) than trying to find a blanket solution for all?
If it helps the displays are:
46" JVC 3D TV (CCFL)
55" Panasonic 3D TV (LED)
55" LG 3D TV (LED)
32" LG 3D Monitor (LED)
 
With different units of the same make and model you might get away with it but not with different brands and models. Even then in all cases individual calibration is best.

I would assume that you couldn't use the same profile for all monitors because of variances. You'd have to individually calibrate each one. How are you "calibrating" them? Are you profiling them only? Or are you doing hardware calibration as well? I'm curious. :)
 
A quick answer is that it depends on what kind of quality you're hoping for.

You could take the time to profile (without calibrating) the displays and seeing for yourself how much they differ. That will give you your answer.
