I had an FX 5200 for quite awhile before I bought a 6600GT.

I had to sell the 6600GT and was stuck with a 5200 again.

I just snagged a Radeon 9600XT for $45.00 shipped and was wondering
how much difference I'll notice.

It's odd, but the 6600GT didn't seem to perform as great as I expected
it to. I think I may have other system issues that's causing some sort
of issues.

With my current setup: Barton 2500+, 1Gig PC3200 and the FX 5200
my 3dMark01 score is only around 4,000 +/-; which seems way low
for my system even with the craptacular 5200.

When I ran the test on the low resolution of 640x480, I got over 7,000,
but that still seems kinda low, doesnt it?
 
6600GT compared to a 9600XT or a FX5200, is pretty big difference, especially in newer games, too bad you had to sell the 6600GT.

And of course, if you play games, 3dmark is not the way to detrmine your actual gaming performance.
 
you probably didnt see a big boost because your cpu isnt at the level the 6600gt is at.
