how much difference between reg 6.23 and smp?

so i just pulled my father into folding.... he tells me he is using the regular 6.23 client instead of the smp 6.23. his performance seems pathetic at best. so i tried downloading the regular (read easy to install) 6.23 client and my performance seems lacking on an i7 920. is there a huge difference between the two clients or is the difference totally hardware based?

if your asking SMP vs normal, yes, HUUUUGE difference

Depends what CPU he's using, but on a multi-core chip, a single uniprocessor client will produce practically nothing compared to the SMP client. Even running one client per core will still be slower than SMP.
