As you can tell from my sig. this is my current set up. I have for the past 3 month only played WOW with some modern warfare thrown in. However while playing WOW I have a laptop beside me to surf the internet for info or to watch DVD's. Well now my wife wants my laptop. Other than buying another Laptop what changes to my system do I need to make to run Dual monitors and Play WOW on one and say like watch a movies on the other.

Should I upgrade to a Quad core or should I go all the way to an I7 with say like 12 GB of Ram?

Any help willl be appreciated.

just add a second monitor and play wow in a window.

having the wifey take one of your pcs is a good excuse to buy an i7!! lol .........i would anyways.

Your rig should definitely be capable of multitasking while Playing WoW. Just add a secong monitor and run WoW in a window like Zepher stated.

For reference, I was able to do what your describing on my old AMD 2500+ box which is much less powerful than your system.

My 9800gt + e8400 runs wow in a window on a second monitor no problem. Dual 1920x1200 monitors for reference. I don't even feel a difference using it this way and I seriously doubt you would either with those specs.

hook a dvd player up to your other monitor :O holy crap i'm a genius. and your setup is definitely good enough to run wow in one and surf the web on the other so your set

I agree, I think your fine with what you have.

I ran (2) 21" monitors on one 8800gtx and main monitor on 30" on another and haven't had any problems in the apst.

I'm still playing with my new rig which has new vid cards

WoW on one monitor and watching movies on second works without problem on every computer. You just need to buy second monitor not the upgrade quad core.

Thanks for all of your replys.

I went out and purchased a Samsung 24 HD TV/Monitor. Works Great most of the time. Every once in a while, the hard drives are working hard, which I think is the antivirus doing a system scan, while I'm watching a Blu-Ray disc the play back will hiccup and slow down just for a bit.

Question IF I was to purchase a Quad core chip say like a Q9560 would it prevent that slow down in playback while virus scan is going on? I know that I can schedule the virus scan to occur at a different time. I just don't want to worry about it. Normally I shut my system off when I'm not using it.

Thanks again for your replys.

There's an option to play WoW in something other than windowed mode? huh.

I play WoW in windowed mode, watch videos, and keep mozilla open and chugging along for quick wowhead references all on a HP Pavilion dv2000. You're computer can handle it.

As for the virus scan, it's unfamiliar to me that someone would approach a problem with the idea "I know I can fix it with some typing and clicking, but if I spent $200 would that fix it instead, just seems easier." I'd say change the time it scans so it doesn't interfere with WoW time. Use the 200 dollars for WoW gold!
