I have a question guys. My system, i will post the specs down. How much Power it will consume, and how much it will cost me per month if i run it 24/7 as a server.

Specs:

Intel Core2Duo @ 3.35
EVGA 680i Sli Motherboard.
8800GTS @ Stock
2 GB Memory @ 1116mhz
RAID 0 320GB SATA II Hard Drives.
8 x 120mm Fans.
MCP655 Pump
12" Cathode Tube.
2 x DVD Writers.

All this is running on 500Watts Power Supply. How much that will cost me / month if i run it as a server for 24/7

what's are the voltages you are running?

and why would you need a 8800GTS and a 3.35ghz C2D for a server? seems like you could do the same thing with a lot less power hungry parts...

that's a game machine, not a server

Perhaps thats all he has, or this is his "Spare parts machine" (heck, if it is, give me a call... :p )

At any rate, I'd have to guess (and only a guess) that this system running 24/7 will be about 200-300 watts. You need to know how much per kw/h you pay for electricity (read your electric bill), grab a calculator and have at it.

My airconditioner costs more than 4 systems running 24/7. If you can afford air conditioning, you can afford multiple PCs running....

If this is an academic question (How much does it cost) use the approx wattage I listed. If this is a practical question, buy a "Kill-a-watt" power meter and examine your electric bill for cost per kw/H with your calculator.

Not a hell of a lot; My rig (opteron 146 @ 3ghz, 7800gt, 5 hdd's) pulled 200 kwh over 1022 hours, = roughly 0.19 kwh per hour, = 7.6 per day, = 140 per month, = 1690 per year. Multiplied by 10 cents per kwh, and you're looking at $169 per year. Of course, your rig draws even more than mine does.

I suggest you buy a Kill-a-watt. They'll help you determine the actual number.

i'm going out on a limb and say its going to range about 14-20$/month without monitor being in use since we don't know its wattage draw or time in use.

Well first of all that yes it is a gaming machine, and i want to use it as a server also, because thats all i have :D

Good suggestion about reading the Electric Bill. :D

Ok how much power this specs will use: It has a 60-120 watts power supply running it.
