Hi,

Im about to buy a Coolermaster CM Staker, and I moving from an
Antec Sonata, but im chosing the fans and stuff, so I wanted to ask you if you could give a number of CFM in and out that would have my case temp inside 5c, I know it depends a lot on what you have and how much are you OC, but im looking just for close number where i can start selecting fans according.

I dont know for example
105 in / 100 out
Is this a good number of CFMs for a Stacker? does it seem low or high, or what do you suggest in terms of CFMs

Thanks,

Well there is no "recommended" CFM rating. It really has more to do with the placement of your fans, the orentation and clearance of your case, and your ambient room temperature.

With that said, the ONLY way you are going to have your internal case temp at 5c, is to have your room temp at about 2-4c

That's pretty chilly. It's utterly impossible to have your case temp below your room temp using just air. There's no way it will ever happen.

Cable routing, airflow planning, and heatsink selection has a big part in it as well.

Also, just like there's more to buying audio amplifiers than max Watts rating, there's alot more to air cooling than simple CFM in -> CFM out.

The area or componants that the fans are blowing on actually has more of an impact that air in, air out. If you tell me what you're putting in there I'll tell you if you have enough cooling.

But with all of that said, the stock cooling of a CMStacker case is probably sufficient for pretty much any stock system.

Quicksilver,

Thanks for the reply,

I think I worte bad what I inteded to (english isnt my 1st langauge), I meant to stay in inside a range of 5c of the outside ambient temperature.

this is my setup,

P4C 3.0GHz 800FSB (39c iddle / 50 load)
Abit IC7
Cosair XMS 1Gb PC3200C2
Zalman 7000Cu
2x36Gb WD Raptors in Raid 0
Gainward Golden Sample 6800GT OC to ultra (55 Iddle/ 70-80 load depending on the game)
Audigy 2
Antec Sonata
Antec True380 PSU
Windows XP Pro SP1
Viesonic P225fb

Ok, I see. Well that clears that up.

The componants you currently have are some serious heat producers, no doubt about that. A few more questions for you first.

Are you using the stock heatsink with the intel cpu or an aftermarket one?

Is noise an issue? (think for a bit about this one. If the machine is going to be in your living room, where it's probably noisy already, than it may not be as big of an issue than if it will be at your bedside playing music as you sleep.) For me a quiet computer is an absolute must, and so that changes things. (for me anyway)

Will you be overclockingat all now or in the future?

Are you willing to do some customization to your new case?

The CM stacker has some very unique cooling options for it that most other cases do not have, so that will also affect what you buy.
