hey guys I am speccing a system for a friend. Its a crossfire board and he will start with say a 4890 or 5850 more than likely. I am looking at this psu for his build CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W . Whats the most cf setup it could gandle? 2 x 5870? 2 x 5850? 2 x 4890? He will be gaming on 24" and make no mistakes it will be a gaming machine, he is looking to play ARMAII and the like. It would be pushing an AMD X4 955.

here is what's needed to power up 2x 5870 (from ati's website)

500 Watt or greater power supply with two 75W 6-pin PCI Express® power connectors recommended (600 Watt and four 6-pin connectors for ATI CrossFireX™ technology in dual mode)

imo, that psu should be powerful enough for it.
 
That psu is EASILY enough for those video cards. I ran that same psu with 2 9800GX2s. It can handle any two single core ATI cards easily.
 
The only thing I might worry about powering from that would be a pair of 4870X2s. Any pair of single-core ATI video cards would be fine.
 
of course it also depends on what CPU you have...how much you plan to overclock it, if you plan to overclock the videocards...if you have a peltier cooler, how many fans, how many hard drives etc. etc.
 
Powers the rig in my Sig.I dont have SLI but, still i have it nowhere under full load.
