How modular should a power-supply be?

  • Fully Modular. Even cables that are always used such as the 24p main ATX power cable.

  • Mostly Modular. "Optional" cables are modular but required cabled (such as the 24p main ATX power)

  • Irrelevant. It doesn't matter which cables are modular if at all.

Just how modular should a power-supply be?

Edit: okay... 2nd option is supposed to read "... but not required cables"

Things like the 24pin and 8 pin connector should be not modular IMO... makes things simpler, you need those things anyway, and leaves more room on the PSU for other modular cable/better spacing etc.

I wish the cables themselves were modular.

Example:

Plug in modular SATA power cable w/ 3 SATA power connectors. Only need 2. Pop the last section off the end of the cable. Only need 1? Pop off another section.

Great idea!

I like fully modular PSUs because the cables can be sleeved, swapped, or shortened without voiding the warranty.
Corsair has semi and fully modular PSUs to satisfy both crowds.

I like the idea of fully modular PSUs, but I don't mind semi-modulars either. I don't fiddle around too much inside my rig and I never remove or put in components too often. My current HX750 in my main rig is only semi-modular and it doesn't bother me.

Fully modular; I don't like the idea of an excessively lengthy 24pin or 8pin cable in smaller cases.
