How mobile is the 2001FP?

I'm upgrading for quakecon and I want a new LCD panel. The Samsung 710T has caught my eye, and I got a 2001FP 25% off coupon so that is also grabbed my attention.
I know a 710T should be pretty mobile, especially with a Gear Grip, but how about a 2001FP? Can the base come off pretty easily, and is it super big and bulky if its in a Gear Grip? If I get one it'll be my carryon for the airplane ride to texas, no way I'm trusting my important PC gear to the throwers.

PS, buy one or both of my LCDs, FS/FT thread located a tad farther down in my sig :D
 
I don't think you'd want to lug around that LCD especially to lans. I have the 1900FP (same design) and the base is rather heavy. It can be removed quickly with the push of a button which is nice, but you still have to carry that odd shaped base. That 710T would be a wiser choice for lans IMO.
 
It's kind of heavy like Impact9 mentioned. I would be afraid to drop it and crack the screen on mine...
