I was just thinking that I had bought a lot of video cards over the years. I imagine that many of you have bought a lot more.

I have bought 8 since spring of 1997 (when I bought my first computer). This does not include ones bought for work:

STB Velocity 3D (S3 Virge)
Diamond Monster 3D (voodoo 1, 4mb)
Voodoo 2 12mb
Voodoo 3 3000 16mb
Voodoo 5 5500 64mb
Geforce 3 Ti 200 64mb
ATI 9500 Pro 128mb
6800 GT 256mb

And do you know which card blew me away the most? The Voodoo 1. I will never forget how amazed I was playing Quake for the first time in true 3D (after playing it in 2D).

I don't want to tell you how much I spent on all these...

nVidia Geforce 4 Ti4600 Leadtek (sold)
nVidia Geforce FX 5800U BFG (laying around)
nVidia Geforce 6800 Ultra BFG

You know the sad part is, I was going to buy a 9800 Pro, but got a good deal on a 5800U which ended up being annoying. Then I was going to buy an x800 XT PE, but everyone knows you cant find those. BTW these are the video cards for my main machine. I did own a Geforce 3 Ti200, two Geforce 2 MX200s and a Geforce 4 Ti4200 as well.

Not really an Nvidia crazed person its just how the chances came in front of me.

Well I've only been "in the loop" since 2000, so I don't have a lot of cards built up, but ive had some of the classics over my time.

S3 ProSavage 8MB
ATI Radeon 8500 128MB
ATI Radeon 9500np 128MB with softmod to 9700 (x2)
ATI Radeon 9600 Pro 128MB
ATI Radeon 9200 128MB
nVidia GeForce 6800 Ultra 256MB

The S3 card was in my first post 2000 system and my first actual video card, all previous systems had intergrated. I then upgraded to the 8500 in early 2002, and wow what an upgrade. After having my faithful 8500 for awhile I jumped in on the 9500np bonanza. I had my first one for awhile in late 2002 to early 2003, but then it died while I was attempting to mod some heatsinks onto it. I then purchased another in mid 2003, had that till late 2003 when it just suddenly died. :(

After that happened, I got a 9600 Pro just as a temporary replacement till the next-gen cards (x800's and 6800's) came out. I had the 9600 Pro for about 5 months and then purchased a 6800 Ultra and thats where I stand today. The 9200 was in a secondary system which now has the 9600 Pro.

Trident
Rendition V1000
Voodoo
Riva 128
Voodoo II
Voodoo II SLI
Geforce 256 DDR
Geforce 3
Geforce 4 TI4400
Radeon 9800
Geforce 6800 GT

Too many for my pocketbook's sake.

Voodoo 1 (1997)
Voodoo 2 (1999)
Voodoo 3 (2000)
Voodoo 5 (2001)
Geforce 3 (2002)
Geforce 5200 (2003) (What a mistake)
Geforce 5700 Ultra (2003)
Geforce 6800 GT (2004)

Thanks for reminding me! Oh the expense!

My first post at HardForum!!! Not sure why I didn't register sooner, I've been reading since 2000.

My list of cards:

Voodoo3 3000 16MB
Hercules GF2 MX 32MB
Hercules GF2 Pro 64MB
Visiontek GF3
Aopen Aeolus GF4 128MB
MSI 6800 128MB

Only listed for main system, alot of other purchases though :) Not a bad list...

Geez...

Some sort of Number9 (Imagine, maybe?)
ATi AIW Rage128 Pro
2x Voodoo2 12MBs
3dfx Voodoo3 3500
PNY GeForce2 Ti
2x GF2MX
Leadtek GF3 Ti500
Powercolor Radeon 9800

There are probably a good five or six cards missing from that list, too, from secondary PCs, etc. The only one I actually even still have is the 9800... I thinned the herd to 1 PC this winter.

I'm sad to admit it but growing up a child of Nintendo I got in the computer gaming scene late. The first game that got me started on this never ending upgrade battle was MOHAA.
I've bought 1st to latest....
ATi Radeon VE
Voodoo 2 (for an old Gateway that needed something, think I paid $15)
PNY Ti4400 (died)
PNY 5600 Ultra (worse than the 4400, called PNY and they told me tough shit)
ATi 9800 Pro
The future is up in the air, especially since I'm broke as hell right now.

man, i remember the day i upgraded to the diamond stealth with it's massive 3dfx processor. hell, i remember when i was blown away when i got to see quake 2 played on a 3dfx card the way it was meant to be played... on my buddy's screaming 450mhz 256 meg gateway.

then the even happier day of the geforce2mx400 64 meg for the mind blowing total of 99 us dollars. oh man i was so fucking gleefully happy.

ti4200 was an "eh" upgrade.

but the 9800pro was another one of those "omg the water tastes better now" moments. :)

Gforce4 MX440 64MB
Radeon 9000 64MB
