Well, how many do you use? On your main workstation, that is. Servers don't count.

And those who still use 8" drives can afford to be disappointed.:)

1x 80 GB Windows SSD
1x 120 GB Steam SSD

Workstation:
1x 80 GB Windows SSD

Media Center:
1x 80 GB Windows SSD

VM Host:
12x 1 TB 7200 RPM in 3x 4 Disk RAID 10 Arrays

NAS:
5x 2 TB 7200 RPM in RAID-Z2

I've never used them but had a few floating around the department a while back. I do not remember but we probably recycled them in the early 2000s. What was more interesting was the large (2 foot diameter?) magneto optical disks and drives.

i have a dvd drive in my 5.25 but i havent opened it since i installed Windows.

Its getting cut from the team. I think a fan controller will look nice there, with a reservoir below. Yes. That sounds nice.

oh and also,
1 x160ssd os and games
1 x640gb previous computer image backups
1 x1tb media and game backups
1 x2tb redundant storage

might be a bit off topic, love to see what type of enclosures you're using for your RAID arrays, especially the 12 disk one.

dunno how people are able to keep all their games on SSDs (notice you have a 120GB just for steam). i'ved had to move all my steam game apart from 1 onto my magnetic disk via mlink (lazy using 'steam tool'). the one still on my boot SSD is 'shogun2' with 'fall of the samurai' expansion. downloaded that the other day, came in a touch under 30GB!
mind you that was both the core game + the expansion. if i'd purchased the other expansion 'rise of the samurai' reckon the full DL would of been 40GB. guess i could move it to a magnetic disk accept the load times off a fast SSD are pretty long.

None, but I don't network boot; 120gb mSATA SSD on the motherboard.

HDD's

Main PC
1 x 250GB HDD
1 x 2TB HDD

Shuttle PC
1 x 120GB SSD
1 x 1TB HDD

Want 2 x 250GB SSD's for both machines. Just don't have the money :'(

DVD burner as my token optical.
Hotswap (trayless) with a 1tb drive right below, where I keep all of my important data with encryption (which is backed up across the network to my file server).

Going to do my last Desktop because this one isn't finished.

2 DVD Burners
3 2TB HDD's
1 1TB HDD's

So 6.

I have way to many drives crammed in my rig.

2x WD Black 1TB in raid-0 (OS drive)
1x WD Green 2TB (MultiMedia Storage)
1x WD Black 500GB (Developing/Design Storage)
2x Corsair 120GB SSD (game drives)
1x Sandisk 120GB SSD (just for fun)

and for optical I have only one DVD R/RW drive that I keep hid.

VM Host:
4/4 hot swap 3.5" bays in the 1U server enclosure
8/12 hot swap 3.5" bays, 2/3 SFF-8088 mini-SAS connectors utilized, in the 2U JBOD enclosure

NAS:
Lian Li Q25 (5/5 hot swap 3.5")

I currently have room for around 10-15 games on the 120 GB SSD. I play a lot of indie games which are generally smaller in size than AAA titles though.

Also, if needed, I download from Steam at around 5-6 MB/s. So removing a local copy and downloading another game is not too painful.

Still, when 200 GB+ drives come down in price a bit, I plan on upgrading the first chance I get.

I'm using all of mine up on my Raven RV02 case.
1x3.5" fan controller
1x3.5" BD/DVD/CD drive
3x3.5" for Lian Li EX-36B1 Internal HDD Mount Kit with 3x3.5" hdds and 2x2.5" SSDs.
3x3.5" for Mountain Mods aluminum fan mounted with 1x120mm radiator.

With my old case I used 6 3.5" bays and 6 5.25" bays.
With my current case I use 5 3.5" and 3 5.25" bays.
