OK....

AV8 Deluxe with 3500+
1gig OCZ 3700 EB
X800Pro (560 core / 580 mem)
CAT 4.7

Ran again with same results......

the detail fleck bump map is prob the single most hit you will take to framerate on that demo...
it kills the framerate..

and you cant even see it on the planets , the skull in jade does nicely..

you should have mentioned material btw..

i think i got down to around 4 fps on this system running the correct settings...

LOL, i get the same "Not enough Video memory" error. probably an Nvidia driver issue or something. what drivers are you using?

I've installed DX9c, the DXsdk, Forceware 61.76 and I get this error when I start it up:

Warning: Nothing will be rendered.
The reference rendering device was selected, but your
computer only has a reduced-fntioanlity reference device
installed. Install the DirectX SDK to get the full
reference device.

Gerneric application error. Enable
debug output for detailed informtion.
This sample will now exit.

oh yeah:

Athlon 1800+ stock
Ti 4600

It might be because the program is DX9 based. And Gf 4 is DX8.
