So I hooked up my hack of a system just to see what two rads would do for temps. I split two 8800 GTXs onto a GTX 480 and an E6700 onto a 120.3.

Fans used were 4 Silenx Pros at 1400rpm and 3 Aerocools
Xtremes running at about 1800rpm, plus the onboard NB fan. Fluid was a 90/10 mix of distilled water and G11.

Ambient temps of 21c.

Record temps are max idle and load, although they don't reflect the average temps.

GTX 480 loop only

I think those are some pretty kick ass temperature readings, particularly under load. With these two rads I should be able to turn fans down quite a bit and maintain at least the old temps on a single rad with little minimal fan noise. Anyway, in case anyone was thinking of doing the same that's what you can expect.
 
Wow.. Im very impressed! What is the processor speed set at? What about vcore? Those temps rock!

Not overclocked yet. I think I can finally run my fans at low RPMs and stay cool and quiet. Adding that second rad makes a huge difference with the CPU, but I bet I could get away with a dual and not a triple. A dedicated loop certainly doesn't hurt the GPUs either. The overall average temperatures are also much lower - those are record peak temps. Under load the GPUs are typically under 50c......seem to hover around 49/44. Prior to switching to water my GPUs were 85-90c in the same ambient temps. Woot.
 
WOW! And your cards got that hot? ..The hottest my cards got (that I know of), was 84c. That's when I decided to do the extreme air cooling approach. I only overclock them when I am benchmarking now.. No need to push them 100% hard ALL the time.. My max temps seem to be around 63c (but, that's with (4) 120mm fans moving TONS of air directly on the heat sinks, with my plastic GPU shrouds taken off). Speaking of which, I just bought (5) more aerocool fans to make my system ALL matching.. I had masscool fans on my 8800's but I will take those out and put aerocool 120's on them, in a few days when they arrive. Anyways, my two 8800's chew through EVERYTHING. Crysis will be an interesting game to see. I bet it will push my setup pretty darn good.

On a side note.. I was reading over futuremarks website.. I stumbled on this.. Check out this guys CPU score.. OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

dude. that cpu score rocks. although my sys (see sig) got a higher overall score ( a smidge over 11000) :)
 
I don't see how he's getting 3fps on the CPU test and 7k on the CPU score...

I get 2fps even 3 once in awhile, and my CPU score is still in the high 3000's.

Actually, isn't the newer revision of 3dmark06 optimized for more than 1 core? or was that going to be in 2007? :eek:

anyways, I love those GTX radiators... I'm thinking of picking one up come tax-return time. :cool:

My system is currently down.. My motherboard is posting a code of 25... On a different thread, I was explaining my frustrations.. Anyways, with just a little luck, I should be up and running again mid next week. I am taking advantage of the down time to "cosmetically enhance" my rig.. Trimming stuff up, making my side panel basically an open side hole with my dremel tool.. lol. Bought (5) more aerocool fans to match the aerocool fans that I already have.. I will be getting rid of my masscool fans.. What else? Bought some more Fluid XP and some little things here and there like a LCD monitor mount arm.. My quad core is here but my motherboard prevented me from getting it all in and powered up.. As for my GPU's, my aerocool 120mm fans keep em from going any higher than 63c (I now have basically 180cfm of air pointed directly at each 8800gts) .. I am very happy with that result.. I know I could get em a little cooler with a water block on each one, but 63c is VERY acceptable for an 8800GPU (and taking off the plastic fan shrouds to keep em cool with 120mm fans is *almost* as good as a low cost water setup). ...hehehehehe!

Damn, sorry to hear that dude. What's a 25 code? 63c is very good under load with air cooling - how loud are the fans though with the case on? Not bad?
 
POST CODE 25 mentions something about the PCI initialization / VGA problem..

I will be back up and running soon.. I am done grieving.. LOL. As for the loudness of the fans, they were VERY tolerable. But now, I'm doing away with the low noise masscool fans.. New Aerocool fans are on their way so I will report that info when I get em all mounted up.. I can't believe I will have (11) aerocool 120's..LOL. I was upset because when I bought my first two at Compusa, it cost me almost $40 bucks! Now look at me.. 11 of them? OMG.. I've lost my mind.. the cost alone could have bought me a complete second water cooling loop.. It's depressing if I look at it that way.. But yeah, since the fans are 120mm's they don't have the high pitch sounds that are generally associated with the smaller fans.. It's helpful, because I have all of my fans connected through a fan controller.. So I can max em out if I am benchmarking or I can quiet them down when I am "normal" mode.. lol.
