I want to keep my setup as quiet as possible in my next few upgrades, but I also want to have a RAID 0 of the 36 GB HDs. How would this affext my sound situation.
 
It's definitely working against your efforts. As you might guess, a RAID configuration would double the hard drive noise compared to a single drive. Also, like most 10k RPM drives, the WD360GD is pretty loud and high pitched in a quiet environment. That's about all I can say--have you heard the WD360GD in operation?
