i am building a new computer soon and i waas wonering how loud the x1900x or xx1900xx or xtx1900xtx is? If i am playing either,fear,hl2,eq2,gw or bf2 with a headset on will be be that noticeable? Is it really that loud

With headset you won´t hear it. The card is very silent in Idle. I would say that it´s not that loud when gaming either. The annoying part is when the fan spins up and down. Luckily we have ATItool for that. And people who like the best (after watercooling) get the Zalman VF900-CU :D

With a headset on you won't notice it. If you're playing the game music through speakers then you'll know when the fan is on but it won't bother you.

I don't even hear my x1900xt with the speakers going. Of course I've usually got them turned up a few notches.

I have the X1900XTX and Gainward GF6800GT golden sample card. The latter has this dual slot dual fan custom cooling. It does a very good job but at full load (OC) it's a loud mofo.

Now...imho, the XTX is even worse at load even though I use Atitool to regulate fanspeeds.

Fortunately I use large Sennheiser headphones. Maybe I should have opted for 'closed' (this means the headphones don't let outside noise intrude) headphones instead of 'open air', considering the XTX.

Oh well, for the sake of performance, noise can be tolerated i guess....

Hi:
I use an ATI X1800TX. It roars some at boot for a few second but stays quiet
after that.
During a gaming session the noise level can increase but my attention is
focused elsewhere and I don't notice it.

One advantage of the higher end ATI cards over nVidia's is that they blow
their heat OUT of your case.
Your other (case and CPU) fans don't have to work harder and be noisier to
compensate for a video card dumping usually all or sometimes half of its
heat into the case.

Happy trailz,

Its load and it sucks at cooling. Its a good concetp, but to get decent temps you need the fan at 60+% and its super loud IMO.
